It turned out our combined experience in marketing and communications was exactly what we needed to build the community we were searching for—a village in the Hudson Valley where women show up for each other.

What We're Building

Village & Valley is a community for women in the Hudson Valley who want deeper connection—to themselves, to one another, and to this place we call home.

We promote the professional and personal talents of women through unique events and shared experiences. You might find us embarking on new creative paths, carving out time for wellness, exploring the valley, or simply gathering for a casual happy hour.

Our events are curated based on what our members want and often feature partnerships with local businesses—because supporting each other means supporting our community.

I’m Marci Chocky — a storyteller, marketer, and unapologetic tomato enthusiast who believes a good playlist can fix almost anything. After two decades in digital media and marketing, I’ve learned how to build brands and tell stories that connect — but these days, I’m more interested in the kind that make you feel something.

A media marketing professional with a passion for writing, I launched two Substack publications — Shift Work and What’s on My Vine — as a way to reconnect with creativity outside of work. They’ve become spaces for stories about life, love, reinvention, and the messy beauty of starting over.

I grew up in the suburbs of New Jersey and spent 17 years in New York City before trading sirens for songbirds. Four years ago, my husband and I finally made the Hudson Valley home, settling in New Paltz with our 13-year-old terrier mix, Donna — ready for a life that moved a little slower, but felt a lot fuller.

I'm Jess, a note-taker, plan-maker, and life-long communications nerd.

My path has been wonderfully winding. I started my career as a music writer covering Austin's live scene, and when big-tech came to town, I grew my skills in storytelling and strategy helping fast-growing companies navigate change. On the side, I spent three years curating Sunday Suppers, a passion project of weekly potlucks at my home that turned strangers into friends through themed gatherings, musical guests, and backyard movies. The common thread has always been building connection and growing community—whether in the arts, corporate teams, or casual gatherings.

I'm a Hudson Valley native and spent 15 years in Austin chasing good music and great tacos before returning to New York in 2020 to put down roots and grow my family. As I settled into a new chapter of life with littles, I found myself rediscovering my relationship with myself, the region, and what I was looking for in friendship. I met Marci through a mutual friend, and when our careers took a simultaneous plot twist, we realized we were both searching for the same thing: real community and meaningful connection. When we worked up the courage to turn a "what if" into a plan, Village & Valley was born. Now we're building it together with our community, one conversation at a time.
